Sigh
Well, I'm at work today. No rest for tech support. And that's all I'll say for that.

People are going to start requesting early release very soon. Unfortunately, I needed it the past two days (sick on Tuesday, flat tire yesterday), so I can't today if I want a decent paycheck next week.

We took Dante's bandage off yesterday; the toe still looks a little swollen, but a lot better than it did Monday. He still has maybe two doses of antibiotic to take, and a checkup on Monday to make sure it's healing correctly.

The tire turned out to have a razor blade in it. However, since I took it back to where we bought it, they fixed it for free. Discount Tire rocks.

On a completely unrelated note....we saw an ad for those detoxification foot patches the other day. Matt's skeptical. I'm curious. If it stays slow today, I might do a little more research into them. Just because.

Well, this morning I went to Urgent Care to be checked out; doc said there was one spot of tension, but to just use ibuprofin, ice and heat for now. He gave me his card, in case it doesn't clear up.

Then, off to the auto body place the dealership reccommended. The guy there was real nice, went through everything, and told me what to be sure the adjuster notices when I get the "official" insurance adjuster estimate later today (right before work). Plus, he said he'd put on a black or gold pinstripe at no charge. :-P So there's that, and then maybe I can get the wheels in motion on Monday to get the car fixed.

Yesterday, I was rear-ended on the way to work. No one was seriously injured (in fact, the other driver's little boy was seriously stoked about having been in an accident. Kids), but a police report was filed, and now I'm dealing with insurance and trying to get in to a doctor to get my back and neck checked out. I have a Friday appointment to get an estimate on my car at the insurance company's place, but I'm also going to swing by the dealership I usually go to, one, to see if they do body work, and two, have them give me an estimate, too, to make sure the insurance company doesn't try to underpay or whatnot. That was Matt's idea.

The company I'm dealing with this time seems to ask a lot more questions than the one I dealt with the last time I was rear-ended.

I have pictures, but I haven't pulled them off the camera yet.

Now here's hoping someone doesn't hit my other taillight on the way in today!

...and the thing that bothers me most? I haven't even had the car a year.

Yesterday was a good day.  Matt and I spent the morning sleeping, then watched a movie from Netflix (Raising Helen; I got bored about half an hour in and skipped to the end), showered, and went out to Crossroads Plaza.  I had a bunch of coupons, so we went to Great Steak and Subs for lunch (philly cheesesteaks, fries, onion rings, and 2 sodas, about $10 for both of us), walked around the  plaza some, going to TRU and Barbecues Galore, then to Coffee N Crepes to use the free coffee coupons, then Coldstone Creamery for the buy one get one free coupons.  It was a nice enough day, not too cold, not too hot, that we could sit outside and drink our coffee and eat our ice cream.

We came home, finally took pictures of the car.

Piccies here! )

Then, around 7, we headed into Durham to meet John and Aaron at the Apple Store in Southpoint, before going to see Harry Potter.  Quick, non-spoilery thoughts?  I got bored halfway in.  I don't mind some of the subplots being left out, but there was one that leads to a fairly major plot point in book 5 that was left out.  So I'm wondering how that's going to be handled.

Visually, the movie was well-done, although it looks like they changed Flitwick's character design.  And yeah, I agree with the person who commented "They seem to have gotten Hermione confused with Pansy Parkinson!" in the Yule Ball scene.  But boy, did the hall look gorgeous.

Overall impression?  Don't think it was worth $8.50, or however much the ticket was.  I would have been content waiting for the $1.50 theater.

After the movie, we went into Durham proper to get food at Cosmic Cantina.  At midnight.  It was good, and cheap.  $5 for a big plate of steak nachos, although I did ask for no tomatoes, and it came with something tomatoey on it (John thought it might be pico de gallo, which wasn't mentioned when they said what came on the nachos).  Didn't want to make a fuss, so I just ate around them, gave the big chunks to Matt.  It was a little smokey and a lot loud in the main room, so we went out to the patio, braved the chill.  Not sure what the actual temperature was at midnight, but it was chilly enough that I started to lose feeling in my fingers.

All in all, a good day out with my hubby.  :)

...and Scott Kurtz, and Heather, the receptionist at Matt's work.

Fine. You win. After I get through the three movies I have out now (Secretary, Cheaper By The Dozen, and Something's Gotta Give), Netflix will be sending me Firefly. Honestly, I wanted to watch it when it aired, but I had no cable. And the Fox station came in with a generous overlay of snow. So I didn't get to see Dark Angel on the first go-round, either.

In other news, my neck still hurts where it pulled on Monday, my hip still hurts where I popped it a month ago, and I'm not looking forward to taking my pill in half an hour. If I'm still in miserable condition next week on Matt's day off, I'm breaking down and going to Urgent Care.

Oh, and my car's dead. Matt tried jumping the battery last night, but it wouldn't pull the charge. It did that before, a few years ago. I ended up getting a new battery. He thinks given more time, he can get it to start. We'll see.

Work sucks. My entire paycheck went to overdraft fees and car insurance, and I'm still about $20 in the hole. Plus my car has a gas leak. Joy and rapture. Anyone want to send me $50 to get my account up and staggering? :-P
